The Concert Series @ First Pres offers excellence in its musical programs for all ages and interests. The concerts are not limited to members of First Pres, so please invite your friends and neighbors!

Organist Christopher Garven

Christopher Garven is in his second year as the Organist/Music Director at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Tallahassee. He has a rich career in sacred music, a career highlighted by building many strong church music programs and leading them boldly in the praise and worship of God. Chris graduated from Philadelphia Biblical University with Bachelor’s degrees in both Bible and Organ Performance and has a Masters degree in Music from Westminster Choir College. Chris has given organ recitals all over the world, has an impressive record of performance with musical groups such as the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, and longs to develop a national music ministry within the newly formed Anglican Church in North America. Before joining the staff at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Tallahassee, Chris was the Director of Music for a large parish in Philadelphia.

Chris is married to Deborah and enjoys a lively house with six children: Alec, Caleb, Sarah, Vance, Zac and Zoe.

Young Artist Bryan Anderson

Bryan Anderson is currently in his sophomore year at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He serves as organist and pianist at Proclamation Presbyterian Church just outside Philadelphia in Bryn Mawr. He is also an assistant organist for the historic Wanamaker organ inside Macy’s of center city Philadelphia.

Bryan comes from Stockbridge, Georgia, where he served for six years as pianist at his home church, the Providence Reformed Presbyterian Church. He has studied piano since the age of 4, and pipe organ from the age of 12.

One of Bryan’s recent musical accomplishments was winning first place at the regional competition for young organists sponsored by the American Guild of Organists. He will be featured in concert at the national convention of the Guild in June, 2012.

Soprano Marion Read

Vince Treadway, Piano

Marion Read is an actor, singer, and music educator with a warm, lyric-spinto soprano voice. She holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Marion currently resides in Washington State with her husband, Roger, where she teaches private voice and piano from her home studio. In addition, she is active in the music ministry of her home church as a choral director and piano accompanist.
